Overview

In culmination of Owning It's most recent Accountability Challenge, the 12 participants will share their finalized pitch deck with a panel of feedback leaders, including Meghan Ross, Head of Creator Success at Seed&Spark; Ginger Chan, Senior Vice President of Consumer Communications at Endeavor; and Kamala Avila-Salmon, the first-ever Head of Inclusive content for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear the participants' pitches, gain insight into what makes a strong pitch deck, and learn about the Accountability Challenge.

Panelists

Kamala Avila-Salmon
Kamala Avila-Salmon is the first-ever Head of Inclusive content for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, a role aimed at developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies to reflect a globally diverse audience in the studio's film slate. After pursuing her BA and MBA from Harvard, she has worked across music, movies, TV, tech, and streaming entertainment, leading marketing campaigns for Janelle Monae, The Voice, and Red Table Talk, to name a few. Her current role positions her to pursue the north star that brought her to LA: diversifying the powerful images and messages disseminated by Hollywood. She is an outspoken voice on issues of race, racism, and anti-Blackness, penning several Medium articles on DEI in the workplace and in the entertainment industry specifically as well as hosting and creating the podcast, "From Woke to Work: The Anti-Racist Journey," geared at helping people go from "woke" feelings to clear, effective action to advance racial justice.

Ginger Chan
Ginger Chan is Senior Vice President of Consumer Communications at Endeavor, a global entertainment, sports and content company, and home to the world’s most dynamic and engaging storytellers, brands, live events and experiences. In this role, Chan oversees a global team of category experts responsible for strategic consumer PR across the company’s portfolio including IMG, which owns and operates hundreds of live events annually; Endeavor Content, which develops, finances and sells premium film, television, theater and audio content; The Professional Bull Riders (PBR), the world’s premier bull riding organization with more than 700 bull riders competing in more than 200 events annually; The Miss Universe Organization (MUO), the global community that empowers women to be beautifully confident; and premium hospitality leader On Location Experiences which is the official hospitality partner of the NFL, and a partner to more than 150 other rights holders providing official access for both corporate clients and fans looking for immersive experiences at marquee events. Chan also oversees consumer PR strategy for select sports, entertainment and fashion talent clients from WME and IMG.  Across highly varied brands and businesses, Chan’s expertise in distilling complex issues to broad and diverse consumer audiences allows her to reach targeted audiences on behalf of the respective businesses she oversees. Prior to joining Endeavor, Chan served as Senior Vice President of National Publicity and Account Management at Allied Global Marketing for nearly 14 years where she managed a bi-coastal national publicity team in addition to leading 22 regional publicity offices in North America overseeing marquee accounts including Paramount Pictures, Food Network, Cirque du Soleil, Netflix, Hulu, Sephora, Feld Entertainment and many others.  Previously, Chan spent time as a publicist for the Seattle International Film Festival.  She began her career at Terry Hines & Associates, a regional entertainment publicity and promotions agency. Chan graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and minor in Dance.  She lives in Los Angeles, and was raised in Oakland, CA and Seattle, WA.

Meghan Ross
Meghan Ross is a writer/director, comedian, and activist based in Austin who was recently selected for the Sundance Episodic Lab. Her short films have made The New Yorker’s Best Shouts of 2020 list and she was nominated for The Webby Awards 2021 for her short, If You Ever Hurt My Daughter, I Swear to God I’ll Let Her Navigate Her Own Emotional Growth, which features narration by Jon Hamm. Meghan’s writing has appeared in Reductress, IFC, Slackjaw, VICE's Broadly, TV Without Pity, The Toast, and some other defunct but beloved sites. She co-created and hosted the late night show That Time of the Month for 5 years and is currently the Head of Creator Success at Seed&Spark. Most importantly, Meghan is an aspiring stage mom to her rescue pit-lab, Dreidel.
