Gotham Class: 360 Degrees of Impact Production
Price: $150.00

Everything you need to know about taking a film campaign from production to impact!

Overview

Impact Producing is an emerging field in the film industry that uses issue-driven films as catalysts to create social, political, or cultural change through advocacy and engagement. As films have producers to manage the creative and financial process from script to screen, they also increasingly need Impact Producers to take the film campaign from production to impact.

This hands-on class will guide participants through the essentials for an effective impact campaign for documentary, narrative films, and other content by identifying key skills, goals, finances (including fundraising) and understanding best theories and practices, and understanding how marketing plays a role. Participants will learn the scope of work necessary for forging partnerships, creating and implementing successful campaigns, and building a strong marketing plan for the campaign.

The course is taught by Cecilia R. Mejia, a producer and Social Impact Producer, who teaches a version of this class as an adjunct professor at NYU and Hunter College.

You will learn how to:

  • Identify the impact dynamics (the kinds of change) that film can drive.
  • Write a strategic plan for an impact vision.
  • Interpret, measure, and evaluate impact through analysis.
  • Extend the life of a film through impactful conversation and discussions.
  • Work and create change on the community level
  • Create a working budget for an impact campaign
  • Fundraise for an impact campaign
  • Create a marketing plan for an impact campaign
