Overview

Are you considering a crowdfunding campaign for your film, to build your audience and raise the funds you need get it off the ground, or put it through post? Whether you’re working in fiction or documentary, features or shorts, you’re invited to join The Gotham for a two-part class on Crowdfunding Your Film led by Elise McCave, Head of Film at Kickstarter. 

During this interactive workshop, Elise will use recent campaigns to explore what is possible through crowdfunding, inviting special guests to talk through what worked for them. Over the course of two sessions, she will work closely with participants to prepare you to run your own successful campaign.   

Addressing all the most commonly asked questions, you will learn about:

• Setting up a campaign
• Telling a compelling story
• Setting your financial goal
• Identifying your audience
• Communicating with backers before, during and after the campaign
• Basics of digital marketing for crowdfunding

Elise McCave

Kickstarter - Head of Film

Elise is Kickstarter’s Head of Film. She works with filmmakers worldwide, providing tailored support and mentorship on fundraising and audience-building for films in development and production. She works to ensure the creative voices on Kickstarter come from all corners of the industry, producing work that explores the form to the fullest, and has mentored more than 500 filmmakers who've launched their projects to the platform. Additionally, Elise works as a freelance producer on feature documentaries. Based in New York, she joined Kickstarter in 2016 from Doc Society in the UK.
